She is another step closer to the LPGA TOUR. Augusta James of Bath, Ontario used a late surge on Sunday to secure a solo 3rd place finish at the PHC Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The former Canadian Women’s Amateur champion had rounds of 67-71-70 during the Synetra Tour event; it was punctuated by two birdies in the last three holes.
Her -8 total left her two back of the winner, Laura Gonzalez Escalon of Spain.
Two other Canadians, Samantha Richdale (t-11) and Anne-Catherine Tanguay (t-16) finished inside the top 20.
The move was a critical one for James who earned (USD) $6958 for her efforts, allowing her to rise into the 12th place spot on the Tour’s year-long Volvik Race for The Card. The top ten players at the end of the season will earn status on the 2017 LPGA TOUR.
There are six more events left in the tour season. The season wraps up October 13-16 with the Symetra Tour Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida.
