Barber & Gunn Advance at PGA Championship of Canada

Day one is in the books at the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf and two PGA of Ottawa members are still in the hunt.

Chris Barber of The Landings Golf & Teaching Centre (Kingston) and Graham Gunn of White Sands Golf & Teaching Centre (Orleans) advanced to the round of 32 after winning their opening matches.

Barber drubbed Dave Lavallee of Manitoba by a 4Up margin while Gunn downed Kevin Black of British Columbia by a score of 2UP.  Their match was all square through 16 before Gunn, a former member of the European Senior Tour, won the last two holes to close him out.

Unfortunately for John Kelly (Hylands G&CC) and Chris Learmonth (Deep River GC) their stay at the Magna Golf Club in Aurora will be short lived.  Each lost their opening matches.

On Wednesday Gunn, the 14 seed, will face the 19th seed, David Zibrick.  Barber, 16th seed takes on Dean Brown, who started with a ranking one lower, at 17.
