Barber Secures Win On Quebec PGA Circuit

Four-time CPGA Ottawa Zone Champion Chris Barber is also now a winner on the AGP Tour of Quebec.

On Thursday, Juky 21st the 38 year-old General Manager of Kingston’s The Landings Golf & Teaching Centre wrapped up the title at the adidas Eyewear Championship presented by Simmlands Insurance.

After opening with a 69 at the Atlantide Golf Club in Ile-Perrot Barber continued to add to his lead over successive days with rounds of 72 and 71 to win by six strokes over Martin Plante of Balmoral.

For his efforts in this Carlsbad Prestige Series event Barber won $5,000 and jumped to the top spot on the SunIce Order of Merit.

Barber credited his ability to keep his tee shots in play as the key to his win which was also aided by a miscue from his nearest rival, Plante, who made a triple bogey on the 14th hole of the last day to open a four short gap between him and Barber that the Kingstonian rode to the finish.
