He’s not on the tee sheet, but at least Brad Fritsch gets to spend the week at The Masters. Even making a paycheque, although it won’t count towards officials earning for the PGA TOUR member from Manotick, Ontario.
TSN Sports shared news on Wednesday that Fritsch will be joining their team for next week’s television broadcast from Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.
Fritsch himself is not fully clear on what his duties will entail. One would assume that members of the TSN broadcast team like James Duthie, Bob Weeks and Mark Zecchino will look to the well-versed Web.com Tour winner for insightful analysis that only a player of his calibre could provide. Fritsch was actually a proofreader for Duthie’s last book and regularly interacts with Weeks, so the chemistry should be good even if the conversation extends beyond golf.
Fritsch is scheduled to work with the TSN team from next Monday through to the Sunday finish of the men’s first major of the year.
As Brad joked about with a Twitter follower himself on Wednesday, the most important question that remains is whether he will be eligible to enter the media lottery. That would allow him to play the golf course on the Monday if his name is drawn.
It’s a day later than he would like to be playing, but hey, it’s Augusta National Golf Club. You take what you can get. For this year, at least.
