Web.com Tour member Brad Fritsch is lending his support to another local cause.

The 38 year-old Manotick, Ontario native has signed on to be the ambassador for the Prescott, Ontario based PJGT (The PLAY Junior Golf Tour) for the 2016 season.

It is not new territory for Fritsch who has made a great effort to help out regional golf events in the past. In 2013 he served as ambassador for the Mackenzie Tour’s The Great Waterway Classic, and he has done the same for the National Capital Open to Support Our Troops in Ottawa for the last two years.

Now in it’s third year the PJGT has been gaining momentum as it provides a number of programs and competitive events for kids aged 4-18. This year Callaway Golf Canada has also come on board as the presenting sponsor.

Fritsch will provide mentorship and support for the kids involved in the grass roots program in a number of ways, with details yet to be finalized.

“It is important to me to be able to give back to the game in the area where I grew up learning to play”, commented Brad. “Supporting junior golf and the PLAY Junior Golf Tour gives me this opportunity and I’m looking forward to helping in any way that I can”.

PJGT Founder and Director Chris Veltkamp is understandably pleased with the support by one of the most high profile golf professionals that the region has produced.

“It’s about giving kids a chance to experience the game of golf and the countless possibilities that comes with it”, said Veltkamp, a former assistant professional. “Adding a professional like Brad to the brand will not only bring a positive vibe to the events but show junior golfers that with hard work and dedication, they too can go far in golf”.

The 2016 PJGT schedule is still being finalized but Veltkamp says it is on track to be expanded to 10 tournaments this year. Full details should be ready in the next month or so.
