Brooke Henderson Well Back In Mexico After Round One

Brooke Henderson

It was a “comienzo lento” or “slow start” for Canada’s Brooke Henderson at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico on Thursday.

Coming off her worst finish of the season, a tie for 63rd at the Sime Darby LPGA in Malaysia, Henderson was looking to rebound after a week break (she chose not to play in Japan) but could not seem to find her form in Mexico City.

She is sharing 24th place in a 36 player field after an opening round of 74 (+2). That puts her 7 strokes off the lead of Carlota Giganda and Sarah Jane Smith who both are at -5.

Henderson recorded a bogey and double bogey on her opening nine but clawed back slightly with a birdie on the 15th hole.

Fortunately, there is no cut in the 72-hole event and with her penchant for going low, she still has plenty of time to get herself into contention.
