Brunton Breaks Ground With Induction

PGA of Canada Master Professional Henry Brunton has never been afraid of heading into new territory and he will do that again this evening, but in a slightly different manner.

This evening, the former National Men’s Golf Team Golf Coach becomes the first golf affiliated person to be honoured with induction into the North Grenville Sports Hall of Fame.

Brunton, a native of Kemptville, Ontario (where the Hall is located) is being recognized in the Builder Category and will go in with a Class that includes athletes and builders in a diverse range of sports from Kayak to Snowmobile.

I’ve met Brunton on several occasions but finally had the chance to spend a lengthy session with the pro during a round of golf earlier this year.  Although we did not talk a lot about swing or coaching philosophies, Brunton’s passion for the sport came through as we discussed a wide range of topics from Canada’s emerging young golfers to the future of the sport in Canada itself.

If you have a junior golfer about the house I would recommend you purchase a copy of Brunton’s book, “Journey to Excellence”.  His insight on the development of junior golfers is very educational.  You can order it through his website here:

To get an idea of what I am talking about and Brunton’s perspective on the game, be sure to check out his 2008 PGA of Canada Master Professional Thesis here.

It’s a great read.

Congratulations to Henry on the latest honour.

He will be the subject of a profile story in Flagstick Golf Magazine in 2012.
