As the defending champion of the GolfQuebec Men’s Match Play Championship Marc-Etienne Bussieres the Gatineau native received a bye through the first round but it does not look like he would have needed it over the past couple days.  The recent graduate of the University of South Alabama won has advanced through to the semi-final and is the odds on favourite to win the 2010 Quebec Men’s Match Play.

On Sunday Bussieres, who plays out of The Royal Ottawa Golf Club, will face off against Jean-Philippe Paiement in the semi-final starting at 7:30 a.m on The Cascades course at Summerleas Golf Club.

The other semi-final will feature Bryan Pitts versus Sebastien Lavasseur.

The final match will follow immediately after the semi-final.

Besides Bussieres the only other player from the Flagstick region in the event was Christopher Bockstael of the Ottawa Hunt Club.  Bockstael lost his first round match in 20 holes.  Bockstael and Bussieres were team-mates at South Alabama.
