Marc-Etienne Bussieres is tied for 9th place with one round to play Thursday at the Hooters Tour Carolina Winter Series event being held in Elgin, South Carolina.  The Gatineau, Quebec resident has posted rounds of 71 and 74 in his opening rounds.

With the regular Hooters Tour series in Florida on a  break this week Bussieres chose to head north to the Carolinas to keep his game sharp.  He is currently eight strokes off the lead.

Former University of New Mexico golfer  Nick Geyer will carry a two-shot lead into the final round of the event being held at the Members Club at  Woodcreek and Wildewood.

Geyer, from Malibu, Calif., debated even competing in the event after  struggling against adverse conditions in last week s event at Columbia  Country Club. But after two solid rounds, the former Lobo is glad he  did. Geyer shot a Tuesday-low 66 and backed it up with a 2-under 70 in  the second round to move two shots ahead of Bishopville, South Carolina’s Adam Hart.

Geyer is 8-under par after the first two rounds.

Hart, a former Francis Marion golfer, finished third last week and  matched Geyer in the first round with a 66. Hart carded three birdies on  the front nine on Wednesday, but the former Patriot had four bogeys and  only one birdie on the back nine to finish at even-par 72. Hart is  6-under par for the tournament.

Yoshi Yamamoto, of Guadalajara, Mexico, will start the final round four  shots off the lead after carding back-to-back rounds of 70. Yamamoto,  who played colligately at Austin Peay, will be looking for his fourth  Carolina Series win. Yamamoto is 4 under.

George Bryan is solo fourth after shooting 70 and 71 in the first two  rounds for a 3-under par total. Bryan, a three-time All-American out of  the University of South Carolina, is hoping to build on last week s  second-place finish at Columbia Country Club.

Colin Biles, an Ohio State product, is fifth at 2-under par going into  the final round.

The Top 3 Finishers from this week s event earn spots into the  NGA/Hooters Tours Pro Series event in Gainesville, Ga., the week of  March 21st – 27th, when they will compete for their share of a  Guaranteed $200,000 Purse.
