James Newton of Ottawa is continuing to demonstrate his immense golf talents.

Newton, the 2021 Ontario Junior Boys’ Golf Champion and a member of The Royal Ottawa Golf Club, completed play at the 65th Florida Azalea Amateur in Palatka, Florida (Palatka GC), on Sunday, March 20.

Rounds of 70-69-68 ultimately earned him a share of 3rd place, one shot back of second place and four shots back of winner Cody Carroll, a Senior from the University of North Florida.

The field was stacked with multiple collegiate players from top programs.

Newton himself is committed to Rutgers University where the Team Canada member will start this Fall and play golf for the Scarlet Knights.

A number of other Canadians were in the field. Michael Katsman of Toronto tied for 15th, while Canadian bothers Alex Long and Beni Long were 38th and 43rd, respectively.
