Brown Tied For Lead at National Collegiate Championship

One of Renfrew, Ontario’s finest young golfing talents has a share of the lead after round one of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I Men’s National Championship.

Cooper Brown, a freshman at 6th ranked Wallace State Community College (Alabama), started his National Championship run with a 71 on Wednesday, putting him in a three-way tie for the lead with Colin Pearson (Indian Hills) and David Wicks (Midland).

Brown’s play also helped position his team in 2nd place, three strokes off the place set by Indian Hills College. His opening round included four birdies and three bogies with nine hole scores of 36 and 35.

Being played at the Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa the NJCAA Division I Men’s National Golf Championship is scheduled for 72 holes ending on Friday.
