Canucks Get Started at PGA Q-School 2nd Stage

Tuesday’s first round of the second stage of PGA Tour Qualifying went pretty well for the Canadian contingent in attendance, and that included Manotick, Ontario-raised Brad Fritsch.

Three of the six tournament sites got underway Tuesday, with the other tournaments set to begin on Wednesday.

Fritsch was playing at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, where he posted a four under par score of 68.  His round saw him record 6 birdies against just two bogies and he is tied for 13th spot.

Also playing at Craig Ranch were a number of other Canadians:  James Love (67), Chris Baryla (67), Dustin Risdon (69), James Allenby (69), along with Will Mitchell (68), Ted Brown (70) and Steven Lecuyer (71).

Richard Scott is also in Texas for Q-School but in Houston at Redstone GC.  He shot two under par, 70, and is tied for 28th place after round one.

The only other site underway on Tuesday was in Brooksville, Florida at Southern Hills Plantation. There Jon Mills (formerly of Brooklin, Belleville, and Deep River, Ontario) was out in the first group and posted an even par score of 72.  He was the best of the Canadians playing at this Q-School site, tying with Mike Mezei in 38th place after round one.

Other Canadians competing at Southern Hills include: Dan Payton (74), Bryan DeCorso (75), Peter Laws (77), and Mike Mezei (72).

On Wednesday Qualifying tournaments will get underway in Panama City Beach and Plantation, Florida along with Murrieta, California.
