The Canadian Junior Golf Association is ready for its second event of the Eastern Canada schedule taking place June 11-12 at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Dunrobin, Ontario. It will be a double qualifying event for the upcoming Nike Golf Junior Championship and Stephen Ames Cup, and juniors will be looking to play well in order to earn an invitation. This field comprised mostly of Ontario and Quebec golfers should expect a challenge from the par-72 Eagle Creek Golf Club, where a few large ponds come into play on several holes.

In the Boys 14 & Under division, local golfer Nicholas Brisebois of Kanata, Ont. looks to perform well after finishing in sixth place at last weeks’ Quebec event. In 2010, Brisebois claimed a victory at one of the Junior Linkster events. Also competing this weekend is Etienne Brault of Mercier, Que. and David Iaderosa from Ottawa. This is Brault’s first year with the association, and last week he placed fifth at the Quebec Junior Open. Iaderosa had a top ten finish earlier this summer.

The Boys 15-19 division should be a tight competition between numerous skilled golfers. Ryan McDonah, travelling all the way from Dartmouth, N.S., hopes to perform well. A couple weeks ago, McDonah placed in the top ten at an event in New Brunswick, and last year he came in ninth at the Ping Canadian Junior Match Play Championship. David Berthiaume of Blainville, Que. is a definite favourite after placing in the top three at four events in 2010. Ryan Turner of Stittsville, Ont. will also be competing after placing second and fourth at last years’ tournaments. Both Berthiaume and Turner participated in the 2010 Mizuno CJGA National Golf Championship.

Despite its small field, the Girls division should be a very close competition between skilled golfers. Ottawa natives Grace Howie and Kiersten Klekner-Alt both posted an impressive record last year. Howie came in second at the 2010 Nike Golf Junior Championship and also participated in the Lipton Brisk Canada Cup and World Junior Challenge. Klekner-Alt returns this year after claiming one first place and three second place finishes. She also participated in the 2010 Euro Junior Golf Cup. Danielle Humilde of Greely, Ont. will also be competing after placing sixth at the Quebec Junior Open, and second at a Junior Linkster event.

Tee times begin around 12 p.m. (eastern) on both days of competition.
