The Predator Course at Greyhawk Golf Club, owned by ClubLink Corporation in the South-East end of Ottawa, was the scene of a golf competition by PGA of Ottawa golfers on July 11th. The occasion was their Summer Open on the Flagstick.com Players Tour sponsored by TaylorMade-adidas.

The low score on the day was a 4 under par 68 posted by GolfTEC Ottawa’s Colin Pitchers. “It’s hard to believe”, were Colin’s words when he found out he had won. “But, it was a beautiful day, good company and I struck it well. Solid ball striking was the key to my game today. I got up and down 100 percent.”

Along with his cheque from the PGA of Ottawa, Colin received an exemption into the 2017 PGA of Canada Championship sponsored by Mr. Lube and TaylorMade-adidas. On hand to present a pair of boxing gloves promoting the punching of his ticket into the 2017 PGA of Canada Championships were TaylorMade-adidas representatives Michel Normand and Shawn Perno.

Also receiving cheques from the PGA of Ottawa today were Lee Curry (OAC / Hylands) and Jonathan Schaepper (Mountain Creek) tied for second place with their rounds of three under par 69. Tied for fourth with two under par rounds of 70 were Dany Lacombe (Greyhawk), Dan McNeely (Smiths Falls) and J. C. Beecroft (Royal Ottawa). Alone in seventh place with his score of one under par 71 was PGA of Canada’s James Sperinck. Tied for eighth place with rounds of even par 72 were PGA of Canada’s Patrice Vaillancourt and Advantage Golf School’s Graham Gunn. Dave McDonald (Carleton Golf & Yacht), Joe Dubinski (Gregg Foley & Joe Dubinski Golf School) and Chris Barber (The Landings) each posted scores of one over par 73 to tie for tenth place. Tied for thirteenth place with rounds of two over par 74 were Jason McGrath (Glen Mar), Marc Foucault (Kingsway Park) and Shawn Banfield (Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club).

Receiving cheques in the senior division of the Summer Open were John Watson from Golf-O-Max with his round of even par and Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club’s Dave Kalil with his round of two over par 74.

All participants thanked Greyhawk Golf Club and its members for giving up time on their course, which was in superb condition.

PGA of Ottawa golf professionals are now looking forward to their Titleist & FootJoy Zone Championship on the Flagstick.com Players Tour being played at Camelot Golf & Country Club in August. Judging by the close competition today, it should be a great event.
