Courchene Tops OVGA Jr. Field Day

The first Ottawa Valley Golf Association Junior Field Day of the 2011 season played out on Saturday, June 4th at the Smiths Falls Golf & Country Club.

The well attended event saw Will Courchene of the Mississippi Golf Club shoot the low round of the day, a one over par score of 72, to top the field and win the Boys 17/18 division.  His impressive round included three bogeys and two birdies.  He won his division by three strokes over Mike Crapper who shot 75.  Three players, Alexandre Charron, Olivier Legault Roy and Cooper Brown tied for 3rd with 78.

The Juvenile Boys Division (14-16) saw Ryan Henderson prevail by just a stroke over Carson Scissons.  Henderson shot a 74 that included four birdies.

A one-stroke victory was also the case in the Boys 13 and Under Division where David Iaderosa of Greyhawk was the best on the day with an 85.  He was just ahead of Dale Richardson of RideauView.

The small girls field (just three players) saw Alex Hodgkinson of the Brockville Country Club just slip past Velda Wong of Eagle Creek.  Hodgkinson made a par on the par three,18th hole to shoot a 90 while Wong struggled, making a double bogey on #18 to shoot 91 and lose out on top honours by just a stroke.  Paxton Meyer of RideauView took the final spot with her 100.
