Kemptville’s Lee Curry had the start he was hoping for today at the Canadian Tour’s ATB Financial. The Kemptville golfer toured the Edmonton Country Club in just 67 strokes on the par 71 layout. That score puts him in a tie for third with Josh Geary after round one of four.
Just ahead of Curry, at 66, is Ottawa-born Scott Hawley. He is alone in second place, one stroke back of the leader, Derek Gillespie of Oshawa.
Three other regional-based players were also in the field in Alberta. Matt McQuillan of Kingston fired 70 while former Manotick resident Brad Fritsch posted 73.
Oliver Tubb of Stirling tallied 74 on the day.
