Chris Learmonth, CPGA Professional and General Manager of the the Deep River Golf Club reports that they club has made some staff changes over the last month.
The 9-hole Stanley Thompson designed layout will now be under the care of Greens Superintendent Chris Anderson who replaces Royce Vaillancourt. For eight years Anderson was Superintendent at the Bay of Quinte Golf Club in Belleville, Ontario. During his tenure there he prepared the course not only for the membership but some major events including the 2008 Ontario Women’s Amateur Championship.
Inside at the club there is also a major change in the food and beverage operation for the first time in thirteen years. Adam Noel and Janice Merrill have been welcomed to the club as the people in charge of the kitchen and bar.
Conceived in 1950 and with the full nine holes in operation by 1954, the Deep River Golf Club was laid out by Stanley Thompson with architect Howard Watson supervising construction. Through the years they have had many fine players through the club including current Nationwide Tour member Jon Mills who spent his early days at the club while his father, GAO Executive Director Dave Mills, worked in the area for Ontario Hydro.
