The Ottawa PGA Junior Open got off to a blazing start Monday morning at the Loch March Golf & Country Club in Kanata. Juniors came out in the chilly temperatures and got their rounds off to a great start. Despite the difficult holes and tricky pin placements Ryan Dick from the Boys 15-19 division David Iaderosa in the Boys 14 & Under and Paxton Mayer from the Girls division were able to break from the pack and lead after round one.
The Boys 15-19 division was closely competed after the first round with 3 golfers tied for third standing at 86 (+14). Ryan Dick of Ottawa has a mere 1 stroke lead over his closest competitor Riley Foulds of Ottawa, with an 83 concluding the first round.
The Boys 14 & Under division has David Iaderosa leading the pack by 3-strokes with the low round of 78 (+6). Tyler Cross of Wakefield, QC, is nipping at Iaderosa’s heels following the leader with a total of 81 through the first round.
Paxton Mayer of Ottawa leads the Girls division with an 89 (+17) and has a 7-shot lead over Emilie Tyndall of Kirkland, QC who goes into the final round with a 96 (+24).
Tee times for the final round started at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday with the 2012 CJGA Ottawa PGA Junior Open Champions being declared later on this afternoon.
