The second oldest golf course in the Kingston, Ontario area has a new team member.  Flagstick has learned that PGA of Canada professional Doug Wark has signed a contract to become the Glen Lawrence Golf Club’s Director of Golf Operations.

He joins the club after nearly a decade as the Director of Golf at the Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course just down the road near Gananoque, ON.

Wark, who has previously worked as a professional in Prince Edward Island, the Yukon, and the Niagara region of Ontario, says the move is one that presents the right opportunity for him at this stage of his career.

“I’m thrilled with the new opportunity I have at The Glen Lawrence to lead, manage, teach, sell and market the facility. I’ll be working closely with the owners on a new “management team”, working as the Director of Golf Operations,” Wark told Flagstick. “I’m excited to be leading and managing a new team towards a new shared vision, goals and objectives for the club. The club has a long history but even more potential to grow and improve!”

Wark will work alongside the club’s owners, the Ferguson family, including General Manager Cheryl Ferguson, to develop the business model at the club and extend it’s growing reputation as an inviting place to play golf in the Kingston, Ontario area.

The Dick Green designed golf course was opened in 1955 and is known for a hilly and testing layout.

The club is expected to released details soon on further plans for the 2014 season.
