Eastern Ontario Golfers Struggle In Jamaica

There is still two rounds left to play but there is a lot of ground to make up for two Eastern Ontario golfers playing in the LIME Jamaican Open in Montego Bay this week.

In the pro division Oliver Tubb of Stirling, Ontario opened with a score of 74, putting his seven strokes off the lead pace set by Ron Schrader.

Tubb finished 2nd in this tournament last year.  The 54-hole tournament offers a $14,000 first prize for the pros.

In amateur action Marc Ffrench of Ottawa had a rough outing.  His tally of 93 strokes is well above the norm for him; undoubtedly he has some rust on his game after having played little golf in the last couple months.

There is some Canadian hopes closer to the top of the leaderboard.  Dustin Risdon of Alberta (a Nationwide Tour member who has made appearances in the RideauView Pro-Am) shot 69 to share 4th place after round one.

The leaderboard for this tournament, which concludes Saturday, can be found here.
