Eastern Ontario Players Excel at GAO Better Ball Qualifier

A number of qualifiers for the Ontario Men’s Better-Ball Championship took place over the last couple days and golfers from Eastern Ontario figured prominently among the successful candidates.

At Devil’s Pulpit, 3-time City of Kingston men’s Champion Sean Lackey paired up with Russell Bowie to take the top spot with a score of 66.

At Timber Ridge in Brighton, juniors Conor Rodrigues and Clayton Presant tallied an impressive 62 to lead the field.  In a tie for 2nd place were their club mates from Cataraqui, Drew Mayhew and Peter Sauerbrei, who also qualified.

Notable is that among the players that Mayhew and Sauerbrei tied with was a team out of Peterborough that included Ottawa-born Boston Bruins player Marc Savard.

All the successful qualifiers will now compete for the Ontario Better-Ball Championship at the Oakdale Golf Club n Downsview, Ontario on May 10th.
