For a golf club so young eQuinelle Golf Club in Kemptville, Ontario is progressing very nicely.
The Flagstick team dropped by the Darrell Huxham designed golf club on Friday to do a play-through for the first time and left very impressed.
Still really in the growing in stages as far as the rough is concerned, the fairways were pretty very plush. But the best part was the greens.
The ample putting surfaces have a lot of movement but are not lacking in grass or smoothness to any degree. One can only expect they will get faster and become a very memorable part of the eQuinelle experience.
“It’s early but we are off to a pretty good start,” Superintendent Chris Vollett told us as he was about to test out a new menu item for lunch in the temporary clubhouse.
A great attraction to the course are more than 80 bunkers that dot the layout. Our team found a few in the course of play and although not every extraction was sucessful no blame could be put on the course itself.
There is reason for any golfer to hesitate about heading to Kemptville to try out the latest golf course to open in the region. In time it should easily fulfill it’s promise of becoming one of the premium publicly accessible semi-private golf courses in the region.
With tee decks that range from 5200 to just under 7100 yards it should meet the expectations of just about any golfer.
“We’re pretty happy so far and the response from the golfers has been very positive,” added Vollett.
