Flagstick BCC Open Set To Tee-Off

-New Amateur Tournament Showcases Brockville Country Club-

The newest tournament for amateur golfers in Eastern Ontario is right around the corner.

This weekend, September 22/23rd, nearly 80 golfers of various classes will be playing 36 holes for the right to win a very special award.  The Stanley Thompson Trophy, funded by tournament sponsor Flagstick Golf Magazine and endorsed by the Stanley Thompson Society, will be presented Sunday night for the very 1st time.

Intended for golfers up to an index of 18, their will be four divisions this weekend with plenty of solid competitors in each flight.

Leading the way at the very top of the field will be several golfers who are quite prominent on the local circuit including three past champions of the Flagstick Shootout – Dwight Reinhart, Allen McGee, and Joe Matthews.

The varied field includes players from across a wide geographic area and representing a number of clubs.

Head Professional Derek MacDonald and the Tournament Committee has been preparing for this event since last winter and they plan to make it a showcase for the club that will celebrate their 100th anniversary shortly.

Despite a forecast calling for some wet weather, the club will pull out all stops to ensure all the players have a great couple days at the historic club with the layout in tip-top shape.

Players will enjoy 36 holes of stroke play competition, a three-course dinner on Saturday night, a light breakfast on Sunday morning, and a BBQ Buffet on Sunday night.

The full draw for the tournament is posted at the tournament’s own micro-site www.bccopen.ca
