James Sperinck, Associate Golf Professional at the Camelot Golf & Country Club, wasn’t feeling well as he was recovering from a head cold when he teed off in the Flagstick.com Player’s Tour – Ottawa PGA Spring Open, sponsored by Golf Trends at the Prescott Golf Club in Prescott, Ontario.
We should all find out where he got his cold as he won the Spring Open with a three under par score of 67. Included in his score were 9 pars, 7 birdies and 2 double bogies.
“The greens were great,” were the words of Mr. Sperinck. “I was able to pick my line and the majority of my putts went in”. It didn’t hurt that Mr. Sperinck was also able to keep his ball in play most of the day and focussing on the hole in play. James talked about his focus being on club events at Camelot and he indicated that he would like the opportunity to try to qualify for the Canadian PGA Tour event at Upper Canada later this summer.
Finishing in second place with a fine score of 68 was John Kelly from the Hylands Golf Club. Mountain Creek’s Jonathan Schaepper and Rideau View’s Lee Curry tied for third place with scores of 72.
Steve Hall from the Calabogie Highland’s Golf Club and Barry Laphen from Cedarhill Golf & Country Club tied for first in the senior division of the Spring Open with scores of 73. Alone in third was Cedarhill Head Professional Greg White with a 75. He was followed in fourth place by Mississippi’s Terry Kolar.
James, as well as the rest of the field, also wanted to thank the maintenance crew for the superb course conditions as well as Golf Trends and Flagstick Golf Magazine for their support in this event.
Next up on the Flagstick.com Players Tour – Ottawa PGA is their Summer Open at the Renfrew Golf Club on Friday, July 12.
