The 2011 edition of the Golf Quebec Tournament Players Championship concluded this past weekend. The 11th playing of the tournament was hosted by the Atlantide Golf Club and presented by the BPG Buying Group.
Current Quebec Men’s Amateur Champion Nicolas Fortin was the winner in the main division for the second straight year. He shot 71-68 to beat out Stephen Layne and Jean-Philip Cornellier by a single stroke.
There was also a repeat winner in the Senior Division as Graham Cooke had his named etched on the trophy for the fourth time. Cooke had an impeccable weekend, shooting 66-67 for an eleven under par total. That out him eight strokes ahead of second place finisher Robert Fugere of Rivermead Golf Club.
Cooke’s cumulative total of 133 is a new tournament record.
With his win Nicolas Fortin earned a three-year exemption for the Spring Open, Alexander of Tunis, Duke of Kent, Men’s Provincial Amateur Championship, and Tournament Players’ Championship. Jean-Philip Cornellier, Stephen Layne, Michel Tremblay, and Yannick Auger will be exempted for the 2012 Alexander of Tunis, Duke of Kent, Men’s Provincial Amateur Championship, and Tournament Players’ Championship.
