Fritsch In The Hunt In South Carolina

Just a few days ago Brad Fritsch was huddled in his basement with his family, waiting out a string of tornadoes that devastated the area of North Carolina where he now lives but on Wednesday things were looking a little brighter for the former Manotick, Ontario resident.   Fortunately for Brad the tornadoes missed his home in Holly Springs, Carolina and he took advantage of that prosperity yesterday with a strong opening round in the eGolf Tour Columbia Open.

The 33 year-old shot 67, 5 under par on Wednesday over the Columbia Country Club course in Blythewood, South Carolina.  The round puts him in a share for 13th place after round one of four.  The tournament will conclude on Saturday.  On Thursday Fritsch will move over to the Cobblestone Park Country Club, the other course playing host to the 216 players in the field this week.

The leader of the tournament, Mikel Martison, opened with a round of 63 on Wednesday.

The top Canadian of the 14 in the field this week is Matt Hill who shot 65, 7 under par, in round one.

Brad Revell of Kingston, Ontario shot 72 in round one and is in a tie for 99th place.  He will need to shoot a solid round on Thursday if he hopes to advance to the final two rounds.
