After a somewhat promising start, Brad Fritsch’s week in Athens, Georgia did not pan out as hoped.
The former Manotick, Ontario resident who still maintains ties to the Rideau View Country Club, ended the Nationwide Tour Stadion Classic at UGA in a tie for 57th spot. Opening rounds of 71 and 68 had Fritsch positioned mid-field and ready to climb on the weekend but a pair of 73’s over the closing 36 holes left him near the bottom of the board. His Sunday round included four bogies on the back nine including ones on each of the final two holes.
Fritsch added $1691.25 to his Nationwide Tour winnings for the season. That puts him just shy of $40,000 and in 35th spot on the tour’s money list. He will need to make a return to the top 25 by season’s end in order to earn a place on the 2013 PGA Tour via the Nationwide Tour Money list.
Fritsch was just one of two Canadians that made the cut this week on the Nationwide Tour. The other was Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, British Columbia who tied for 48th spot.
