Former Manotick, Ontario resident and professional golfer Brad Fritsch has kicked off his 2011 golf season.  “It feels good,” Fritsch said last night after completing a round of 72 at the Swiftwick Shootout at Palmetto Hall on Hilton Head island, South Carolina.

Past champions of the tournament include current PGA Tour players Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey and Kevin Kisner.

Fritsch is tied for 43rd place with three rounds to play in the 72-hole event.

The tournament is part of the Charlotte, North Carolina-based eGolf Tour, where the 33 year-old Fritsch played a few events in 2010 combined with a strong campaign on the Canadian Tour where he finished in 10th place on their final Order of Merit.

Holding dual citizenship in Canada and the United States, Fritsch now makes his home in Holly Springs, North Carolina with his wife and daughter.

He still retains membership at the RideauView Country Club in Manotick, Ontario.

Story Update: After a second round of 76 Brad missed the cut for weekend play.
