In his quest for 2013 PGA tour card, former Manotick, Ontario golfer Brad Fritsch is playing in Potomac, Maryland this week at the Web.com Tour Neediest Kids Championship.
At 21st place on the money list with just four events (including this week) left on the schedule, the 34 year-old member at Rideau View G&CC, is well within reach of a final top 25 position and a spot on the world’s biggest professional golf tour for 2013. He is coming off a 4th place finish at last week’s Chiquita Classic where he held a share of the lead after 36 and 54 holes.
Brad opened with a three under par round of 67 on Thursday in Maryland, putting him in a share of 13th place at night fall when play was suspended due to darkness. He is just four strokes off the pace of first round leader, Jason Gore, who is two clear of the field.
Canadians Stuart Anderson and Adam Hadwin also played solidly on day one which each recording rounds of one under par, 69. Canadians Bryan DeCorso and Richard Scott each struggled to scores of 76.
The projected cut after round one was one over par.
Fritsch will tee off at 12:25 p.m. on Friday.
