Manotick, Ontario’s finest got his Nationwide Tour season underway last week (Feb. 16-19), in Colombia no less.
Brad Fritsch, who shaped his game at the Carleton Golf & Yacht Club before moving on to RideauView Country Club, had what you might call a mixed week at the Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship.
In rounds one and two Fritsch posted scores of 73 and 68 at the Bogota Country Club. That was enough to push him into a share of 20th place on a layout so soaked with rain that players played lift, clean, and place.
Unfortunately, partially due to three double bogies on his cards in the last two rounds, Fritsch was not able to gain ground on the leaders by the end of 72 holes of play. Matching scores of 73 on the weekend ultimately left him in a tie for 50th place. That earned him $1,995 (USD).
Skip Kendall won the tournament with a total of 10 under par, 274. It was his third title on the Nationwide Tour.
The next Nationwide Tour event will take place in Panama. The Panama Claro Championship plays out on March 1-4. The tour then swings back down to South America for an event in Chile before returning to the U.S. to begin their domestic schedule in Louisiana on March 22nd.
