A round of 69 Thursday gives Brad Fritsch and all his supporters some hope that he might be able to advance to the second stage of PGA Tour Qualifying to be played next month.
Brad opened with 77 on Tuesday and backed it up with a 73 yesterday to languish well back in a field where a tie for 23rd place will get you on to the next step towards earning a PGA Tour card for 2011.
Fritsch, who is playing his 1st stage qualifier just an hour from his home in Holly Springs, North Carolina at the Pinewild CC of Pinehurst, will need another round in the 60’s tomorrow to have a chance of jumping up into a qualifying spot.
Whether he qualifies of not Fritsch is scheduled to play the last Canadian Tour event of the season in Palm Springs, California next week. He is currently in 12th place on that tour’s order of merit.
As admirable as that is there is no doubt that Fritsch would prefer to hang his hat on the PGA Tour, or even the Nationwide Tour next year rather than the domestic circuit.
Tomorrow will shape just where the former Manotick, Ontario resident will be plying his trade in 2011.
