Eastern Ontario played host to some of Golf Québec’s finest young golfers over the weekend of May 28/29 as the Pee-Wee (11-12 years old) and Bantam (13-14 years old) as the Pee-Wee and Bantam Classic was hosted at the Cornwall Golf & Country Club.
Pee-Wee
The younger set played just one round over the historic Cornwall course. On the girl’s side of the draw it was Rosemère’s Annabelle Chapleau who prevailed with a score of 88 (+16). Two players shared second – Florence Bélanger of Les Cèdres and Madeleine Pytura of Rivermead.
Summerlea golfer Malik Dao turned in a strong round of 74 (+2) to win the Pee-Wee Boys’ title by two over defending champion Jean-Philippe Parr of Ki-8-Eb and Valisy Konachenkov of Rosemère.
The Bantam-age players enjoyed 36 holes of competition and they proved that their talent levels are already high and show great potential for the future.
Summerlea’s Christopher Vandette was the best of the Bantam Boys at Cornwall. His two round total of 147 (+3) was three better than Thomas Stafford of Royal Royal Montréal.
A playoff decided the Bantam Girls competition. Lory Paradis of Le Mirage and Mathilde Denicourt of St-Césaire both recorded totals of 158 (+14) in regulation. Paradis then captured the title after just one extra hole of play. Third place went to Yasmine Daoud of Whitlock.
