Killeen Castle is one of Ireland’s oldest and finest 12th century Norman castle. Nestled within 600 acres in the heartland of Royal Meath overlooked by the hill of Tara.

Killeen Castle has announced the launch of the Hunters Yard Lodge accommodation & Rose Cottage; 26 rooms available to book to leisure tourists and golfers.

The lodges have been developed by one of Ireland’s leading homebuilders, Castlethorn, and are open for guest to book from the 3rdJuly 2023. Located near Dunshaughlin, within 25 minutes of Dublin Airport & 45 mins from Dublin City Centre, Hunters Yard Lodges & Rose Cottage are situated within the Castle demesne and adjacent to the manicured walled gardens.

Six elegant lodges with four bedrooms all of which are en-suite with Double / Twin beds. Each lodge is elegantly designed with quality interior design and fittings to a four-star standard. Each Lodge has a separate entrance with ample car parking & EV charging available. In addition to Hunters Yard lodges, The Rose Cottage which overlooks the Castle has two spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, with a separate bath in one and rain head showers in both.

Killeen Castle Golf Resort & Lodges is actively receiving room reservations from domestic and International leisure guests including golfers to experience the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf course. Constructed in 2008. The course is regularly quoted as “one of Nicklaus’s finest creations” was host to the Solheim Cup and is regularly voted in the top 3 parkland golf courses in Ireland. It is only one of two signature Nicklaus golf courses in the country and offers a wonderful test of golf.

There is a waymarked woodland walkway and cycleway weaving their way through a pristine ancient woodland within the perimeter of the demesne. Some of the trees date back to over 500 hundred years. A beautifully restored walled garden provides the perfect backdrop to sit in quiet contemplation.

Some local amenities include Dunsany Castle (a short .5km from Killeen Castle), which has been rewilded by Randal Plunkett, 21st Baron of Dunsany. Lord Dunsany personally conducts walking tours around the nature reserve, covering 750 acres, and surrounding Dunsany Castle. With a Native Irish Black Bee Apiary and a wildlife sanctuary, this 2 hour trek with the Baron is a real treat. Watch out for greater spotted woodpeckers, otters and other wildlife along the way.
