(Brockville, Ontario) Paul Langlois and Gord Sinclair, members of Canada’s iconic band, The Tragically Hip, are going to help out the fundraising for the Charity Pro-Am at The Great Waterway Classic Pro-Am on Tuesday, September 4th. Both Mr. Langlois and Mr. Sinclair are avid golfers who play out of the Cataraqui G&CC in Kingston, Ontario.
On September 4th, they will be putting their passion for golf and philanthropy into play when they will head up “Team Paul” and “Team Gord’ in the 168 player Pro-Am that will match 62 teams composed of 3 amateurs and 1 Canadian Tour Professionals. There will be an online auction to determine the highest bidders who will then join the Tragically Hip’s guitarist (“Team Paul”) and bass player (“Team Gord”) in the afternoon draw of the Charity Pro-Am. The successful bidders will then join Paul and Gord for lunch, golf with a Canadian Tour Pro, and the Pro-Am Dinner.
The Tragically Hip are also donating “Hip” memorabilia to the silent and live auctions to help raise funds for The Great Waterway Classic’s charity – the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation. The funds raised on September 4th will be devoted to mental health educational programming at Kingston General Hospital.
Tournament Director David Dargie observed, “We are very excited that all the stars aligned so that we could have Paul and Gord playing in our September 4th Pro-Am given their very busy recording and touring schedules. To have them offer to auction off their two teams that will help us raise more money for mental health education programming at Kingston General Hospital is a definite bonus. Along with the high calibre of our Canadian Tour professionals, the addition of ‘Team Paul’ and ‘Team Gord’ is something that should attract even more amateur teams to enjoy this unique opportunity to play with the pros! I want to thank all the people who made this happen.”
The online auction will go “live” at 12:00 AM on Friday, July 13th and bidding will close on Friday, August 24th. Anyone interested in placing a bid should go to: www.thegreatwaterwayclassic.ca.
