The top of the leaderboard is becoming a very comfortable position for Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls.
The 15 year-old Canadian National Team member holds that spot after two rounds of stroke play qualifying at the Women’s Western Amateur Championship in Dayton, Ohio.
Henderson shot 68-70 over Monday/Tuesday to lead the way heading into the match play portion of the event.
Two other Canadians are also in the top ten. They include Augusta James of Bath, Ontario (71-70) and Christine Wong of Richmond, British Columbia (71-70) who tied for 4th.
The trio were joined in the top ten by Team Canada member Brittany Marchand who shot 70-72.
The match play pairing were not available at press time but the 1st round of match play will take pace for the top 64 players starting Wednesday with Henderson as the number 1 seed.
The championship will conclude on Saturday, June 22nd with a 36-hole match.
After this event Henderson will move on to play in the Women’s United States Open Championship on Long Island. She was the long qualifier at a site in New Jersey earlier this month. Her sister Brittany, a two-time NCAA Big South Conference Champion at Coastal Carolina University, will be by her side in New York as her caddy.
