It took a birdie on the closing hole but Brittany Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario has defended the Big South Conference Championship she won in 2012.

Henderson, a Senior at Coastal Carolina University, tallied 219 (73, 71, 75) to beat out teammate Lena Schaeffner and Longwood’s Ariel Witmer for the individual victory.

The Coastal Carolina team shot 880 and won the team championship by a record 8 strokes.

The win on Tuesday, April 16th, followed the Conference Awards banquet on Monday night where Henderson was named as the top golfer and athlete scholar for the year.
