At the end of January the Henderson sisters of Smiths Falls, Ontario faced off on the final day of a SunCoast Series Tour event in West Orange, Florida.
On that day it took a heroic birdie on the final hole for younger sister Brooke, 17, to grab her first win as a professional (but her 4th professional win). The slim margin boosted her just ahead of 24 year-old Brittany, who took 2nd place.
This week Brittany, who was the leader for much of that final round in January, has a chance for revenge just 40 kilometres away at the Black Bear Golf Club in Eustis, Florida.
Brittany is leading through 54 holes of the SunCoast Series Winter Championship, a title she won in 2014. She sits at nine under par (69-68-70), reaching that with the help of an impressive 19 birdies.
On Thursday Brooke matched her sister with a score of 70, fitting since they were paired together and riding in the same cart. Her three day total of 209 (70,69,70) puts her at -7 and two strokes down with eighteen holes to play.
Tessa Teachman is just one stroke back of Brooke in third place.
The three leaders will tee off together at 9:11 a.m. on Friday.
The only other Canadian to make the cut, Anne-Catherine Tanguay of Quebec, shares eighth place.
