– Andrew Jensen of Ottawa finished up the Great Lakes Tour WestJet Summer Championship in a tie for 14th place.  On a windy second day the pro who represents eQuinelle Golf Club added a 75 to his opening 69 for a 144 total.  Matt McMahon of Brockville Country Club also tied for 14th place.  He did so with rounds of 70 and 74.  Each player earned $450 for their efforts.  Winner Nick Kenny of Toronto shot 8 under par to win the $4,000 first prize.

-Two young golfers from the Kingston area are in action at an American Junior Golf Association tournament in Pennsylvania.  Austin James of the Loyalist Country Club is tied for 14th place with one round to play at the All Star Classic at Penn State.  Conor Rodrigues of Cataraqui Golf & Country Club is tied for 21st.

-A few Eastern Ontario pros will start play at the Canadian Tour ATB Financial Classic in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday.  Brad Fritch of Manotick, Scott Hawley of Ottawa, and Brad Revell of Kingston are all in the field.

-Members of the the Morrisburg Golf Club will be chasing a Guinness World Record on Thursday night.  A group from their men’s night will be attempting to post the fastest round (relay) by a team.  The mark to beat is 7 minutes and 56 seconds – a record set in 2008 by a group from Michigan.  Flagstick’s Scott MacLeod will be on hand to not only report on the event but also act as the official witness.

-Augusta James of Bath, Ontario was ousted from U.S. Women’s Public Links Championship in the first round of match play.  The 42nd seed lost by a score of 8&6 to Somin Lee of Colorado.  This was the second straight year that James qualified for the championship and the match play portion of the event only to lose in the first round.
