In the closest final in the short three year history of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Final Ottawa’s Kiersten-Klekner-Alt tied for 10th individually to help her team to a 2nd place finish on Sunday.
Hosted at the Hershey Links Golf Course in Hershey Pennsylvania Klekner-Alt’s Gannon University Golden Knigsht improved on its first-day score of 328 by seven strokes, shooting 321 on Sunday. The two-day total of 649 was eight strokes back of champion California, (Pa.) who fired off a 313 on the final day to win the title.
Behind California (Pa.) and Gannon was West Chester (695), Kutztown (713), Mercyhurst (720), Clarion (729) and East Stroudsburg (934).
Individually, Gannon earned three of the top four spots on the leaderboard with Bhanisha Nagindas (Brampton, Ontario / St. Marguerite d’Youville) shooting a 77 on Sunday to earn a second place finish overall. Her two-day total of 159 was just one stroke off the pace of individual champion Jenn Rothermel of California (Pa.)
Finishing in third was Kelly Nickerson (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Seton-LaSalle) with rounds of 81 and 80. Close behind was Amanada Teodorsson (Savedalen, Sweden / Porthalla) earning a fourth place finish with rounds of 80 and 82. Kiersten Klekner-Alt (85-83-168) and Rhiannon Ray (89-82-171) both improved on their scores from Saturday to earn top-twelve finishes.
This weekend’s PSAC Championship concludes Gannon’s fall season.
