An less-than average day got a lot better for Brooke Henderson on Friday at the LPGA Swinging Skirts in San Francisco.
She had opened play for the week at 71 (-1) and was looking to move up the leaderboard, but the conditions were not cooperating.
Battling cool and windy weather at the Lake Merced Golf Club, the Smiths Falls pro was two over par for the day by the time she reached the 12th hole. In typical Brooke fashion, she mounted a charge.
The 18 year-old made three birdies over the next four holes to turn the day around and match her score from round one. That put her is a share of 16th place at -2 overall, seven strokes off the lead of Haru Nomura but only four shots off second place.
Hamilton, Ontario’s Alena Sharp (73-74) also made the 36-hole cut and is tied for 58th place.
Fellow Canadian Maude-Aimee Leblanc withdrew.
Sharp will tee off at 9:05 a.m. local time on Saturday alongside Austin Ernst. Henderson will be paired with Azahara Munoz. They tee off at 12:35 p.m.
