Allen McGee’s quest to win six consecutive Ottawa Valley Golf Association Men’s A Class City & District Championships is very much alive.
After shooting 69 on Monday at the Greensmere Golf & Country Club Premiere Course to share the lead with Chris McCuaig, the Dunrobin, Ontario resident broke open a four stroke lead through round two on Tuesday.
He did so by posting an even par round of 72 on the club’s Legacy course which ate up most of the contenders. McGee’s 72 was three strokes better than anyone else in the field could produce. Senior-aged host club member and Club Champion Lyle Alexander shot that round of 75 to vault into third place alone.
Most players averaged 5-7 strokes higher on Greensmere’s Legacy course.
Chris McCuaig posted a 76 on Tuesday and will be in second place heading into the third and final round which will be played Thursday at Rivermead Golf Club in Gatineau, Quebec.
