McGee Set To Defend

After winning last year’s inaugural Flagstick Shootout at Smugglers Glen (Glen House Resort) Kanata’s Allen McGee said he would be back to defend the title and with his entry confirmed this week, that is just what he is set to do.

The 36-hole male amateur event is quickly becoming a landmark event in the region and with just under two weeks to go to the tournament on May 29/30 the talent pool signed up to play is looking very solid.

Last year McGee, a former Volvo World Amateur Champion, beat out North Carolina State golf star Brad Revell to win the championship in a tightly fought battle.

Like last year, the format for 2010 will be 36-hole gross scoring over two day and with equal sized divisions.  This year there will also be leaderboards throughout the course and the addition of other touches to bring the tournament to an even higher level.

New tournament sponsors like Nike Golf, CIBC Wood Gundy, Aquafina, and Bleeker TV&Stereo are also adding some nice touches to the event including a NikeGolf rep on-site for a demo.

There is still some paces left in the field that will be capped at 96 players.

See www.flagstickshootout.com for a poster with full details.

613-659-4999  is the Smuggler’s Glen Contact # to Call for Entry

Spectators are encouraged to come out and watch the action.
