McGee Takes Lead At OVGA City & District Championship

Allen McGee of the Arnprior Golf Club will take a three stroke lead into Wednesday’s final round of the Ottawa Valley Golf Association Men’s A Class City & District Championship.

McGee, the four-time defending champion, shot to the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday with a four under par round of 67 at the Renfrew Golf Club.  He had trailed opening round leaders Marc Carrier and Tom Hossfeld by one stroke after he opened with a 72 at the Kanata Golf & Country Club on Monday.

Carrier is now McGee’s closest pursuer after he added a second straight 71 to his tournament total.  Hossfeld had a tortuous day that saw him shoot 81, a round that included a +13 score on the front nine, in stark contrast with his -3 total on the back nine at Renfrew.

Kurtis Barkley of Cedar Glen sits in third place alone at 143 (72-71).

24 players will advance to the final round at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club on Wednesday.  The 36-hole cut came at 160.
