While Manotick’s Brad Fritsch still has to wait a few days for the start of his 2010 PGA Tour Qualifying attempt Kingston’s Matt McQuillan kicked off his quest for a PGA Tour card on Tuesday.
The 29 year-old fired a 68 in his opening round in McKinney, Texas on a day where his score card varied greatly. While did finish at four under par it took quite a path to get there in a game that included 2 eagles, 4 birdies, 4 bogeys, and just 8 pars.
McQuillan’s 1st stage qualifier will finish up on Friday. There are 18 qualifying positions from this stage of Q-School. McQuillan is currently tied for 9th.
Brad Fritsch’s 1st stage qualifer will begin on October 26th at the Pinewild Country Club in Pinehurst, North Carolina, not far from his current home in Holly Springs, N.C.
Peterborough’s Ted Brown (who now lives in Richmond, Virginia) is also playing at the sam qualifier as McQuillan and played well in the 1st round, recording a 7 under par, 65.
