Instead of using the same old techniques to fill tee times, the folks at the Metcalfe Golf Club in the south end of Ottawa are taking a slightly different approach. Faced with a Sunday afternoon tee sheet that was not as full as they would hope, instead of compromising their business by slashing the green fee to try and attract customers, they went the other direction – instead they are using an event with appeal to bring golfers to play on a carefree weekend afternoon.
For 2012 the club will be offering a Sunday Tournament Series. It will play host to both competitive and recreational golfers looking to play some extra tournament golf on a weekend afternoon.
It will feature weekly prizes and overall prizes based on a series-long scoring.
The 2012 Tournament line up is:
Sunday June 10 – The Hickories Restaurant Men’s Invitational (Competitive and Recreation Division)
Sunday July 8 – The Metcalfe Golf Open (Competitive and Recreation Division)
Sunday July 22 – The Metcalfe Golf Challenge (Competitive and Recreation Division)
Sunday August 26 – The Metcalfe Golf Classic (Competitive and Recreation Division)
Sunday September 2 – The Tournament Series Championship (Competitive and Recreation Division)
Registration is limited to 20 Competitive entries and first 20 Recreation Entries. If less than 20 in one division will accept additional entries for other division with total between 2 divisions not exceeding 40.
