Low scoring was the order of the day during the opening round of Golf Quebec’s Duke of Kent.
The second Triple Crown event of year concludes Saturday and it should be quite a race with many players under par.
Leading the way is Luca Michieli of Summerlea Golf Club who shot an stunning eight under par, 64, at Royal Quebec to take the first round lead.
Just two strokes back of him is Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Graham Cooke, also a Summerlea member.
A trio of players share third place including Sonny Michaud of the host club, Christophe Sylvain of Lorette, and Vincent Blanchette of Pinegrove.
The leading player from the National Capital Region is Maxime Marengere of Rivermead who shares 6th place at 3 under par.
Quebec Mid-Amateur Champion Dwight Reinhart of the Arnprior Golf Club is tied for 10th at 2 under par.
The eighteen hole cut fell at 3 over par.
