It appears that 8-time PGA TOUR winner and Masters Champion Mike Weir will have a new foundation for this golf swing this season.
The PGA TOUR Champions member has announced an agreement with Paynter Golf, a footwear company founded by industry veterans David Paynter, Mike Forsey, and Michael Glancy, and based in Portland, Oregon.
In a release, the brand shares that Weir ordered shoes from the company through their online portal in early 2021 to do his own testing. Satisfied with the performance, it led to an agreement between both parties.
Paynter is a company that looks at golf shoes as equipment, another way for golfers to leverage ground forces to maximize speed at impact.
No terms of the deal were released.
Weir begins his 2022 PGA TOUR Champions campaign this week at the Mitsubishi Electric Championship in Hawaii.
In 2021 Weir, now 51, earned his first PGA TOUR Champions event at the Insperity Invitational.
