It was a mixed weekend when it came to success on the golf course for pros from Canada’s National Capital region.
Marc-Etienne Bussieres of Gatineau continued to show his talents on the NGA Tour. The former Golf Quebec amateur player of the year has only been a pro for a short time but his potential is clear.
On Sunday Bussieres finished in a tie for third place at the Spring Hill Classic, an event on the NGA Tour. He shot 71,66,71,70-28 (-6) at the tournament contested in Tifton, Georgia. For his efforts he picked up $7,7867.00 (USD).
On the PGA Tour Manotick’s Brad Fritsch made the weekend for the fifth time in six events but that was where any joy ended. Many players struggled on The Champion Course at PGA National which is very unforgiving. Fritsch found that out the hard way as he followed his opening 36 of 68 & 72 with two rounds of 77 each.
The 294 total put Fritsch in a share of 74th but was worth a addition of $11,460.00 to his money list total.
That brings his year-long total to $220,360 and has him in 75th on the money list overall.
The only other Canadian to make the weekend was Graham DeLaet. The Saskatchewan-born golfer finished tied for 9th with a 278 total. He was on company as also on that mark was Charl Schwartzel, Lee Westwood, and Graeme McDowell. He was rewarded with $156,000 and brings his season long total on the PGA Tour to $379,824.
