For the second straight week Kingston’s Brad Boyle has added another trophy to his growing collection.
The Senior at Indiana University of Pennsylvania successfully defended his title April 16th at the 49th Annual IUP-Cecil C. Spadafora Golf Invitational at the Indiana Country Club. Last year Boyle shot 64-74 to win the event but needed just 71-70 this year to surpass a trio of other contenders who tied for second place. His IUP team won the title by sixteen strokes.
Last week Boyle won the Penn State’s Rutherford Intercollegiate against a field of Division I players. In total he has won 9 tournaments in his NCAA career, one that was hampered only slightly by a knee injury that took him out of action for all of last summer before winning in his first event back at school. He has recorded three wins in the 2011-2012.
Once Boyle graduates it is expected he will take a shot at playing professionally. Undoubtedly The Great Waterway Classic, the new Canadian Tour event being played in Lansdowne, not far from his hometown, this September may be in his sights as a place he would like to play if he could manage to qualify or be considered for an exemption of some kind.
Boyle will go for his 10th NCAA Title in early May at the NCAA Super Regional to be played in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
