The whispers had been rampant in the Kingston area of late…word was filtering out without confirmed sources that the Amherstview Golf Club, founded in 1971, had been sold to a local construction group – one that happens to own property right next to the golf course.
This time of year tends to be “rumour season” in the golf industry and in the interest of fairness to the Amhertsview Golf Club we felt it was only right that they had an opportunity to go on record about what might (or might not) be happening with their business.
Contacted by email, General Manager Carolyn Proderick seemed relieved that she had an opportunity to address the rumours.
“I’ve been wondering how best to get the fact out to the golf community, ” Proderick shared in our correspondence.
Despite challenging times for some in the golf business segment Proderick says there has been no change in ownership at the club not have they been seeking one.
“Amherstview Golf Club is not for sale nor have we been putting out feelers or entertaining offers. The current ownership , Joe and Carolyn Proderick , Pat Proderick and Larry McKeown are looking forward to many more successful seasons,” she stated.
